Collaboration Support

Below is a list of tools that may help you and your mentor/mentee to collaboarte.

Also, some of the tools listed below are available for download on the district catalogue – see under “Tech Support” and then “District Tools” for instructions on how to download from the SD 62 catalogue.

 Microsoft Lync – Lync gives you instant messaging (IM), audio and video calls, Lync Meetings, availability (presence) information, and sharing capabilities all from one, easy-to-use program. * Click the title above for help tips on how to get started and use the basic tools within Lync. Many of the districts desktops may have Lync already installed, if you can’t find it you may have to download it from the school catalogue.

Skype – Skype’s text, voice and video make it easy to collaborate with your mentor/mentee. *Click the title above for help tips on how to get started. Again make sure to add this to your school computer through the catalogue first.

Yammer – Yammer is a web based software (meaning you don’t have to download it from the catalogue, just go to the link: click on”yammer” title) that is a private social networking space for sd 62 employees. To login simply go to the site and enter your sd62 email address. Yammer allows you to share files, discuss projects and collaborate any where or any time.  

Black Board Collaborate – BB Collaborate offers collaboration choices, such as mobile web conferencing on Androids, built-in audio conferencing, and LMS integrations. Simply go online and try the free trial. Click on the title above to try it and see if its a good fit for you and your mentor/mentee.

Google Plus – This is a way to have social media (collaboration tool) and all your documents stored and shared in one location. Through Google you have access to e-mail, Google docs (where you can share and work collaboratively on one document from different locations) and Google plus (social media). With Google no additional plug ins or special “additions” should be needed for your computer in order for it to run. As well, you can login to Google from any computer, IPad or mobile device so long as you have internet access.
